Pleated Velvet Skirt | Yummie Ruby Bodysuit | Balenciaga Moto Jacket | Vince Camuto Nude Sandals | Tory Burch Stud Earrings | Oliver Peoples Sunglasses | Prada Clutch (sold out in nude)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!  I can’t believe 2018 is officially here!  What a year 2017 has been!  I became a mommy in September of 2016, but I feel like I somewhat figured things out in 2017.  So for me, 2017 was a year of growth.  I’ve also realized how hard it is juggling time as a mom, wife and blogger, so making that extra effort to schedule time with friends and seeing their efforts in return meant the world to me.   When your friends love your little ones as much as they love their own, that says a lot!  I feel so grateful to have gotten close to some bloggers babes in the beginning of the year and seeing how much our babies have grown together makes my heart smile.

Today I’m sharing my first look of the New Year!  Pleated skirts aren’t going anywhere– and we still have a few months to rock velvet (if you abide by the seasonal ‘fashion rules’… if you don’t, then good for you!!!).  I wanted to create a feminine look with edge and the moto jacket adds just that.  You could also pair this look with black ankle booties if you wanted to make more of a statement.  I also can’t get enough of the bodysuit under the skirt trend- it’s so easy and simple.

I hope everyone had a safe and amazing NYE!  Cheers to 2018!

Thank you for stopping by!

SHOP MY LOOK

Ribbed Turtleneck Tunic Sweater | Topshop Denim Miniskirt | Marc Fisher OTK Boots | Burberry Scarf | Oliver Peoples Sunglasses | Louis Vuitton Bag (similar)

Happy Tuesday guys! How many of you have completed your Christmas shopping? I have one gift left to get for my niece then I’m completely finished with all of my holiday shopping! December is somewhat of a tough month because my dad, sister, brother, grandmother, husband and about 3 close friends all have December birthdays!! It’s a busy month (and expensive) to say the least!

That said, today I’m sharing a look that most of you will already have in closet! (Because who has time to shop for themselves during the holiday season?!). I paired a basic, black turtleneck sweater with a distressed denim skirt and black OTK boots. You can accessorize with a scarf (I prefer neutrals but you could totally do a pop of color here), or beanie and viola. Simple and easy.

Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start! Thanks for stopping by.

SHOP MY LOOK

Treasure Bond x Something Navy Sweater | Metallic Skirt (similar) | Nude Strappy Heels | An Old Soul Necklace short and long | An Old Soul Bracelets | Kendra Scott Earrings | Oliver Peoples Sunglasses| Coach Rogue Bag

Hi friends, Happy Wednesday and mostly importantly Happy almost DECEMBER!!!  How is it already here?  Who has actually conquered some of their Christmas shopping?  My family has agreed to gifts for the little ones only, so my shopping list shouldn’t be all that bad!

Today I’m sharing a holiday look that I absolutely love: pairing a chunky, oversized sweater with a festive, metallic skirt.  I paired this look with strappy heels, kept the earrings simple and added a long necklace to layer with.  I also added quite a bit of arm candy.  All of my jewelry aside from my earrings are handmade by An Old Soul Jewelry and I can’t get enough of it.  I literally wear theses necklaces with everything from LBDs to a tank, long duster and jeans. Check out their site for more beautiful sets. Now onto my love for metallic skirts. They are all the rage this season and so versatile. Other ways to style metallic skirts would be to pair it with a bodysuit underneath, a crop top sweater, tank and blazer… the options really are endless.  You could also throw on a basic white tee and a statement necklace for an edgier look.

I hope everyone’s week is off to a get start!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

bell sleeves and an old soul

SHOP MY LOOK

Treasure Bond Minidress| An Old Soul Kaylee Necklace | Vince Camuto Bootie | Celine Luggage Tote | Kendra Scott Earring Stud

Happy Monday!  How is it already November 6th?  Olivia and I walked to the park today and it was 87 degrees outside– seriously, Houston?!  A lot has happened this past week, including our Astros taking home the World Series Championship!  Let me just say– I’ve never watched a baseball series with so much heart and intention!  I’m pretty sure I stress ate about 5 extra pounds watching the series… thanks pregnancy!  And cheers to me on hitting my 20 week mark!

This Fall I’ve been absolutely loving the Something Navy x Treasure Bond collaboration at Nordstrom.  One piece that I knew I had to have in my closet was this satin bell sleeve minidress.  I can’t get enough of the bell sleeve trend this season.  I’m pretty sure I’ll be wearing this number all month long!  I would’ve added a belt but as you can see, my bump is making an appearance this month.

I paired my look with this beautiful handcrafted necklace by An Old Soul— you’ve got to look up their jewelry line if you don’t already know about them!  I love that this company is 100% owned and operated by women and absolutely love what they stand for– empowering other women.  If you’ve been following along for awhile then you’ll know that this is the sole purpose behind my blog.  Read more about their incredibly inspiring brand here.  The line was founded in 2013 and has already been picked up by big department stores like Neiman Marcus and other specialty boutiques including our very own Kulh-Linscomb.  Just an little added bonus: subscribe to An Old Soul newsletter and get 15% off your order.  I’ll be sharing another look this month with this beautiful line.

I hope you guys are having a great start to the week so far!  As always, thanks for stopping by.

Metallic Pleated Skirt

October 16, 2017

metallic pleated midi skirt | yummie bodysuit | tiered tassel earrings | strappy sandal | céline luggage tote

If there’s one trend this fall that makes my heart happy, it’s metallic pleated skirts!  You guys, I haven’t worn a ‘skirt’ in years.  I’m much more of a maxi, dress or jeans and tank kind of gal.  Styling skirts just seemed like too much work for this busy mama.  Let me tell you- I have been wrong and it feels so good!!  Pleated skirts are all the rage this fall and they’re super easy to style.  I styled this skirt with a simple, black bodysuit and strappy heels.  Voila!  You can also throw on an over-sized sweater for a cozy winter look, or a button-down silk top for a more tailored look.  There are so many different ways to style this skirt, the options are endless.  This mama is officially converted into a skirt gal.

Hope you’re having a great week!  Thanks for stopping by.

It’s a…

October 4, 2017

We couldn’t be more excited to announce that we’re expecting a baby boy in March!  Just when I felt I had this girl mom thing down, too.  That said, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome our little man in a mere 5 months!  Olivia has the sweetest heart so I know they’ll be the best of friends growing up together.  We can’t wait to watch her become a loving, big sister.  We feel so absolutely blessed to be expecting our little miracle.  We found out the gender earlier last week and it’s been so hard keeping it a secret!

I’m so thankful to say that I’ve been feeling well and I’m happy to have graduated from the first trimester.  I’ve gradually gotten my energy back, but being pregnant while chasing an one-year-old around is no joke!

Thank you everyone for the well wishes and for stopping by!  I’m so excited to be sharing this journey with y’all.

Eliza J Floral Velvet Print Dress (sold out) similar here and here | BaubleBar Tassel Earrings | Bracelet Saint Laurent Heels | Prada Clutch

Happy October, guys!

Does this mean we’ll finally get cooler ‘fall’ weather here in Texas?  Ha!  Not pressing my luck on that.  It’s been awhile since I’ve posted here because my little family has been my number one over social media lately.  I will say that it’s good to be back and I missed shooting looks for you guys!

Today I’m sharing one of my favorite fall dresses at the moment.  How gorgeous is this black velvet floral shift dress?  I seriously can’t get enough of it!  It’s a perfect night out on the town look, but can be worn to a formal event like a wedding or holiday work party.  Unfortunately, this adorable Eliza J velvet dress is currently sold out, so I’m linking a similar one here.  Keep checking back here to see when it’s restocked.  To say I’ve been obsessed with floral this year is an understatement.  I’m so happy that the floral trend is bleeding into fall.  I paired this look with my classic Prada clutch and strappy Saint Laurent heels.

Hope everyone has a great week!!

L’Occitane Peony Collection

August 23, 2017

If there’s one thing you know about me, it’s that my love for beauty and skincare products is strong!  Being around the fashion industry for well over a decade (yikes, that shows my age) has taught me the importance of taking care of my skin and investing in great beauty products.  Now, as a new mommy, I’m finding it’s harder to find the time to pamper myself.  I’ve also noticed that my skin has been uber sensitive since I’ve had Olivia, so I’m always careful when selecting which products to put on my face.

Today I’m excited to share my at-home spa experience with L’Occitane and their latest Peony Collection.  What we put on our skin is extremely important.  You always want to check for a chemical-free, plant-based product.  After all, you’re putting this on your face!  I always opt for clean, non-toxic beauty products.  That is exactly why I love L’Occitane.  The majority of their products have minimal ingredients and are based from plant extracts.  From the delicious floral scent, to silky texture of each mask, L’Occitane’s Peony collection helps to brighten and moisturize your skin in the most spa-like way.  Added incentive?  You can achieve this in the comfort of your own home!  Did I mention that peony extract found in each mask is from Drôme in the south of France?

Each mask from the Peony collection targets a specific issue, including hydration, purification, and an intense overnight mask for dry skin.  The hydration and purifying masks are quick 3 minute masks that you can apply in the morning or right before bed.  I applied mine first thing in the morning and opted for a makeup-free day because my face felt so fresh afterwards.  Words cannot describe how much softer my skin was after a quick 3 minute mask.  I will be using this regularly without any hesitation.  Yesterday was my first time sleeping with the overnight mask.  I woke up with my skin looking refreshed and feeling softer than ever.

Their next product from the Peony Collection is the Peony Petal Cleansing Oil.  This oil feels and smells like heaven!  Remember the peony extract from the south of France I mentioned earlier?  This product is actually infused with real peony petals from Provence and the packaging is gorgeous!!  The oil helps gently remove impurities all while keeping the skin hydrated and refreshed.  When I applied this product, my skin instantly had a glow to it.  Where has this been all my life?!  I can assure you that this collection is here to stay in the Gentry household.

There’s a reason L’Occitane is currently celebrating it’s 40th anniversary.  The company is passionate about discovering new, plant-based products and continues to create award-winning innovations .  Just let the reviews speak for themselves. 🙂

Thank you L’Occitane for sponsoring this post.  As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Dress: Ale by Alessandra similar  / Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell / Sunglasses: Oliver Peoples / Bracelet: gorjana

I mentioned earlier this week how I can’t believe mid-August is here… how did that happen?!  It’s crazy how quickly this year has gone by, not to mention that Olivia’s first birthday is coming up next month (insert ugly cry face here).  She’s already walking at 11 months old!!  Talk about having my hands full!!

Today I’m sharing this beachy resort look (if you follow along, you’ll know that this is one of my favorite styles to wear).  You can throw this over a bathing suit, or wear it throughout the day.  You can’t go wrong either way!

As always, thanks for stopping by!

Yumi Kim Maxi | Marc Fisher Wedges | Earrings | Bracelet | Chloe Crossbody | Oliver Peoples Sunglasses (similar)

I hope you guys are having an awesome week!

Absolutely fell in love with this dress when I found it browsing the internet.  I can’t tell you how much use I’ve already gotten out of it!  I wore to my niece’s graduation and received so many compliments on it that night (college kids are so sweet!!).  I’ve since worn it to a dear friend’s baby shower, brunch with the girls and to an Estee Lauder blogger event held at Tiny’s last month.  I kid you not when I say this dress has already paid itself off!  The best thing is that I bought it in June so it’ll get lots of play this summer.
